Ep119 – How To Solve The Unspeakable Leaky Problem with Herschel Peddicord III

More than 60 million women in the US alone suffer from bladder leakage problems… and they’re just the ones who admit to having a problem…

What do you think is the impact on your subconscious if you have to wear bladder pads or you’re worried about going running, doing high impact exercise or even having sex because you’re worried about bladder leakage?

Bladder (and bowel) leakage is something that affects most people, male and female, as they get older and is almost entirely preventable and repairable without the use of medication or surgery.

Herschel Peddicord has spent his life finding solutions to medical problems and after he sold his previous company and found himself with not a lot to do, his mother suggested that he find a solution for her bladder leakage problems. Herschel had no idea that so many people suffered with this problem, so he did some research and discovered a few fascinating things.

Most of us have heard of Kegel exercises to help strengthen the pelvic floor but did you know that Kegel himself said the exercises were of no use unless they were done with resistance. Just clenching and unclenching the pelvic floor muscles is like lifting weights without any weights: it’s not going to do anything.

But what if you can do Kegels with a resistance? There are a few devices on the market that say they can help you to strengthen your pelvic floor but most of them in reality have very little impact. What Herschel did was find a solution that has a massive impact on bladder, bowel and vaginal issues.

“The National Institute of Health say more than half of women who try to do Kegel exercises are doing them wrong, they’re squeezing their abdominal muscles or their buttocks, because trying to identify your pelvic floor muscles and separate them is extremely difficult.”

About Today’s Guest: Herschel “Buzz” Peddicord III

Founder and CEO of InControl Medical
Founder and CEO of HomMed, LLC

HomMed created and sold home vital sign monitoring equipment for primarily congestive heart failure and diabetes patients. HomMed sold after 4 years to Honeywell for 130 million dollars.
Senior VP of Criticare Systems and international manufacturer of anesthesia monitoring devices.

Founded in 2010 by CEO Herschel “Buzz” Peddicord, InControl Medical designs and manufactures patented devices for the control of incontinence.

“When I looked at the market,” he said, “I could see there were treatments for stress incontinence, and treatments for urge incontinence, but nothing solved the two together. And, nothing existed that got to the root of the problem: weak pelvic floor muscles and/or an overactive detrusor muscle.”

Cleared by the FDA in 2012, the InTone® was the world’s only inflatable female incontinence device to provide quantitative data about the patient’s progress to her physician. Buzz Peddicord, who worked for many years in the medical device industry, initially designed the InTone to solve the incontinence problem of a family member.

In 2015, the company released the Apex®M, the only over-the-counter device to control stress, urge and mixed incontinence in women. Since its release, the company has sold over 70,000 units – and continues to garner top reviews on product shopping sites such as Amazon.

In 2019 InControl introduced Attain the only FDA cleared, over the counter, at home device that treats stress, urge, and mixed urinary incontinence as well as bowel incontinence.

InControl products have helped 180,000 customers gain control of their urinary and bowel functions by solving the underlying issues that cause incontinence with pads, medications or surgery!
